Parallel Exhibition in Branch Venues

Foreword

The Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition is the highest-level, most participated, and widest-ranging comprehensive photography exhibition in Shenzhen. Not only is it an important platform for national and global exchange of image art, but also a great stage for local photographers to show their works, and an event  for meeting the new expectations of people’s spiritual and cultural life. Since its inaugural edition, the exhibition has been held concurrently in multiple venues across the city, covering various districts. Districts in Shenzhen have been proactive to set up parallel exhibitions in their venues for easier access for the residents. No matter where they live, there is a place nearby to enjoy the art of photography.

The 7th Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition has organized multiple parallel exhibitions under the same theme, “City·Beat”.

Longhua District’s parallel exhibition, Longhua Urban Scenes, is the first mover, selecting 100 excellent works out of 1,769 to display on the 9th floor of Longhua Library.

On March 8, the International Women’s Day, the parallel exhibition City·Women·Rhythm, was unveiled at the Shenzhen Women’s and Children’s Building. Photographers share the beauty of the city and women in a variety of creative techniques, and tell the engaging visual stories of “the city and her”.

On the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, the parallel exhibition, Stories of Shenzhen, reinterprets the spirit of local entrepreneurs and the city’s rapid development with images. The passion of the times chime with the charismatic business leaders; the social context reflects historical events. Visitors can get a glimpse of Shenzhen’s earth-shaking changes in a series of photos.

Yantian District’s parallel exhibition, City·Beat: Mountains, Seas and Beautiful Yantian, captures the harmony of the bustling city and the breathtaking nature, forwarding photographers’ deep love and emotions for the mountains and seas in Yantian.

Guangming District’s parallel exhibition, City & Memory, invites shutterbugs to capture local communities from all angles for a panoramic “image archive”.

In the passage of time and among skyscrapers and humble alleys, photographers in Shenzhen feel the rhythm of the city with their hearts, and show the soul of the city to the world with their art. At key turning points in history, they take up their cameras and capture moments of witness, and establish their own connection to the place they live in. Parallel exhibitions are diverse and rich in dimensions, featuring both records of major events as well as details of everyday life. Through visual art, the photography showcases the myriad of the era and Shenzhen, providing deeper insights into the changes in the world and the era, and reflecting real life and authentic emotions. Various parallel exhibitions are the testimony of the creativity of Shenzhen photographers, and open more ways for the public to appreciate the art of photography and communicate with each other.

The beats of the city are engaging and passionate. You are more than welcome to visit and experience the parallel exhibitions we prepare. Venues across Shenzhen with visual segments from the past are sure to surprise and impress.
