Night Wander
Night Wander is a series of pictures taken by the photographer during his lonesome experience abroad. The series depicts lives of American suburb families at night, which reflects his nostalgia from a side and represents his reperceiving and thinking about self-identity in a new city and different cultural environment.
The expression of environment, scenes and protagonists in the pictures possesses a strong movie visuality. Every picture seems to be telling an ineffable story to the spectators in obscurity and dimness.
I began to create the Night Wander series when I left my city and my family and lived abroad by myself. At dusk, all the lights were on. The warm light and the dark sky made a contrast, symbolizing the coexistence of warmth and loneliness. A sense of emptiness and strangeness in the new country became overwhelming. During the change of environment, culture and belief, I tried to find identity recognition between my hometown Thailand and the new country America. The pictures honestly represented my struggles during that time.
