Insights into Brazil's Past and Present

The Insights into Brazil's Past and Present exhibition illustrates Brazil’s past and present in the eyes of the two photographers from two different countries. Through the joint exhibition, they depict the changes in the country over time.

Brazilian photographer Evandro Teixeira is a famous photo journalist and a documentary photography master. Photographer Wang Weiguang grows deeply fond of Brazil after living there for nearly 40 years. He often visits Brazilian people of all social stratum to shoot their daily life scenes and capture riveting stories. In the exhibition, Mr. Teixeira represents the invigorated Brazilian cities, society and people since 1960s through his black and white images, demonstrating how the country changes through time. On the other hand, Mr. Wang’s pictures focus on people’s lives and special attention is given to Brazil’s cultural icon—the carnival, the country’s football fever and people’s daily lives. The Insights exhibition shows only 24 pictures. However, they wrap up Brazilian culture from different aspects, which can be regarded as an epitome of the Brazilian society in the past and in the present.
