Exhibition on Cellphone Photography

 Foreword

When we encounter fleeting scenes or ordinary yet touching people and things and when we appreciate the stunning sky and rivers, the gentle breeze and clouds, the swaying flowers and plants, or during a special event, we instinctively whip out our cellphones to capture these moments.

As society progresses and advanced technologies rapidly evolve, photographic equipment and image carriers undergo constant transformations and upgrades. The widespread use of cellphones has given rise to a splendid scene of cellphone photography, transforming photography into a popular component of everyday life. Nowadays, photography is accessible to all, with everyone capable of creating and investing in it. Even those without prior knowledge of photography can take photos to record their lives anytime and anywhere. By doing so, they find a way to express themselves and enjoy the fun of photography.

Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition pays special attention to the trend of cellphone photography. Since the second exhibition, a dedicated section has been introduced for cellphone photography, which displays cellphone photographs to present the city culture and the essence of life through the lens of ordinary people.

The Exhibition on Cellphone Photography showcases photos taken via Huawei phones and ZTE phones, as well as works created by members of the Shenzhen Photographers Association, Shenzhen Aristic Photography Soctiety and Shenzhen Mobile Photography Association. Most notably, these works boast unique perspectives and original ideas, presenting how to take photos with cellphones in an innovative manner.

With the theme of “Light up Things” and rich creativity, the section for dozens of photos taken via Huawei phones provides an art exhibition that integrates technology with fashion, and the immersive experience area offers an opportunity for the audience to appreciate the concept of “Inspiration in Focus”. As a leading brand in the domestic cellphone industry, Huawei designs cellphones producing photos and videos that bring out the best in all situations, whether during the day or at night, in close-up or faraway views, and in macro or portrait shooting.

In the vast cellphone market, new models always come with unlimited possibilities. The exhibition area for photos taken via ZTE phones, with the theme of “ZTE Leads in 3D Perception,” brings multi-dimensional visual experience to empower the industry ecosystem, promote the growth of digital intelligence and open up new horizons.

Photos taken by the members of Shenzhen Photographers Association, Shenzhen Aristic Photography Soctiety and Shenzhen Mobile Photography Association highlight the diversity and creativity inherent in cellphone photography. With inventive compositions and perspectives, these works demonstrate the photographers’ prowess and ingenuity while underscoring the strength of the cellphone as a photographic medium.

As an emerging art form, cellphone photography is revolutionizing the way we conceive of beauty and take photos at an astonishing speed. It is to some extent more realistic and humanistic, shining a spotlight on people’s keen insight into society, imaginative interpretations of daily life and subtle inner sentiments. In short, the 7th Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition serves as a platform for us to display and share cellphone photographs, and at the same time, gives us an opportunity to learn from and grow with each other.
