The 1st Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition opened at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center
Jointly organized by China Photographers Association and Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition will be held at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from June 22 to June 25. This largest comprehensive photography event since the founding of Shenzhen City will be built into an international exchange platform of photography and a new signature brand of urban culture.
Planned to be held annually, the Exhibition was themed with Urban Presence this year, and designed to present the new look of Chinese cities with novel approaches, concepts, perspectives and carriers.
On the morning of June 19, the Press Conference of the 1st Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition was convened at the Information Office of Shenzhen Municipal Government. Chen Jing, deputy director of International Department of China Photographers Association, Liang Yu and Zhang Zhongliang, members of Leading Party Group and full-time vice presidents of Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, attended the Press Conference and answered reporters’ questions.

The Exhibition is organized to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech delivered at the Cultural and Art Work Symposium and the 10th Congress of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Central Government’s opinions on developing and prospering the socialist culture and art. It’s a measure to put into practice The (Implementation Plan of) Innovative Development of Shenzhen Culture 2020. As shown in Shenzhen Urban Culture Menu with themed activities every month, June is the Month of Photography. Therefore, Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition is planned to be held in late June every year.
To highlight the Photography + Technology features, technology elements will be introduced in venue setting, works exhibition, seminars and industry chain extension. Master Invitational Exhibition Area, Open Contribution Exhibition Area, Thematic Invitational Exhibition Area and Photography Industry Exhibition Area have been designed to reflect the theme of Urban Presence from different perspectives. Furthermore, this comprehensive and widespread exhibition will further feature photography seminars centering on Urban Presence—Focus Image. In addition to venue-based exhibitions, organizers have launched online exhibitions and multi-media photography exhibitions to attract global professional and amateur photographers, and enhance the professional level and awareness of the exhibition.
Among the 14,889 works received, 295 works have been selected by the expert panel for the exhibition. Most of the works exhibited are from members of China Photographers Association. The works of photographers from Britain, France, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Finland and Singapore are also featured at the Thematic Invitational Exhibition Area.
To share public culture and art resources with photographers and photography enthusiasts, photography lectures and free public exchanges will be organized. Citizens are welcome to join the academic seminars, Chinese and international photographer exchanges, photography masters’ lectures, photography technique lectures and photography discussions by amateur photographers.
